7 Basic Steps to Save Your Kids from Pest–Borne Diseases

Kids may find some of the pests attractive and may even play with them without knowing the consequences. They do not realize how menacing few pests can be. Besides creating menace, few pests are also known for their stubborn behavior. Kids also have a habit of littering food and keeping things in a disorganized manner. This habit again calls for a number of pests at your place.

Let’s go through certain steps to keep your kids safe from pest-borne diseases:

  • Train Your Kids

Kids are ignorant about certain facts related to pests. They are also innocent in realizing the aftermath of any pest related infections or diseases. They easily get attracted to few pests and start playing with them without knowing the consequences. As a parent or teacher, it is your duty to train them about certain things or facts associated with pests, so they can take appropriate or necessary precautions.

  • Regular Shower After Outdoor Activities

Ask your kids to take a shower immediately after returning home. Tell them to use anti-bacterial soaps so, it can work on certain skin infections you kids might be coming in with. Mosquito bites, bug bites, frog bites or other pest-related infections or scars can be taken care of automatically if your kids take regular shower after every outdoor activity.

You can also ask them to use certain herbal lotions on their body after mixing with bathing water.

  • Regular Handwash

No matter what activity the kids are doing outside; they should make a habit of regularly washing hands after completing any task or game. There is a strong possibility that the kids may have touched the surfaces that may have pests’ defecation or vomit. These things have a lot of bacteria causing fatal diseases to humans.

Hence, proper handwash with anti-bacterial soap should be made a mandatory habit.

  • Apply Herbal Repellants or Lotions

Sometimes, few kids fall allergic to certain strong chemical-based solutions or lotions. They may get skin rashes, redness or irritation. Hence you can buy some light herbal lotions that do not do any major harm to anyone. Besides, herbal products are not fatal unless used inappropriately or without any guidance.

Try to go natural with your kids and you will not have to worry much about any unfavorable health condition related to them.

  • Not To Eat Open Food

Open food is definitely contaminated. Avoid getting junk food or street food for your kids. You never know what diseases or infections you have brought home in the name of such food. Talk very casually with your kids about the aftermath of eating food or drinking water from just anywhere unsafe and unhygienic.

Tell them to wash all the fruits and vegetables before consuming them. They should also wash soda bottles or juice cans or packs properly before drinking from them directly.

  • Avoid Wet or Marshy Grounds

Kids love to get dirty. You simply cannot stop them from playing outside. You know the hidden dangers, but they don’t and even if they do; they have half knowledge about the dangers hidden outside in the open. Wet and marshy places have a lot of germs or bacteria from pests defecating, vomiting or dying there.

This may pose a lot of health hazards to your kids directly or indirectly from pests.

  • General Hygiene Awareness

Tell your kids the difference between cleanliness and hygiene. Make them aware of certain diseases that are transmitted by holding certain pests and not washing hands thereafter. You also need to make them aware of certain pest bites that can induce a lot of diseases in their body.
